Star Trek Starmaps

These are a couple of maps I created based on the Romulan War story as depicted in Masao Okazaki’s Starfleet Museum. They are based on actual star charts created by Gliese, and Hipparcos.

• The Warground
  » These four are the main sectors in which the primary systems are located: They are placed on the border between the octants Epsilon and Zeta. In my measurement one sector is 5 parsecs long on each edge. The first picture has Earth one sector further on the left, in the second Earth is “hidden” behind the displayed sectors. • Galaxy Quadrants (alternative)
  » Presenting a sketch how the galaxy quadrants could be numbered if one takes into account that Star Trek: Deep Space Nine did always talk about saving the alpha quadrant but never the beta quadrant. This version also attempts to explain why the beta quadrant wasn’t the Voyager’s target.

• Sol’s Neighbours
  » The following maps show the stars within a cube of 10 parsecs width on each edge. Actually the first major map creation made by me back in July 2001. The star positions are based on the Gliese Catalogue of Nearby Stars calculated to show the galactic centre on top of the map. The “empire” colouring is purely speculative.

• Sollike Stars
  » Another early map of mine, this time showing the 46 nearest sollike stars. Sollike stars are those with spectral classes similar to our sun’s.

• Albunea Sector
  » The Albunea Sectors was a small map I created in support for a role-playing game. It is located near Kzinti space and the neutral Serak Republic. The player has to choose where to create a starbase from which he/she will command the sector. During the scenario the Serak Republic claims a rather large part of the sector from both the Federation and the Kzinti Patriarchy.

• Sector 482
  » On request the scenario moved on to the TNG era and involved Klingons. Since I like TOS species I put in a couple of Tholians as well, knowing from “Reunion” they share a border with the Klingon Empire.

  » This is a Movies-era map of the sector in which Space Station K7 is located. Note that all the names of the planets are taken from first script drafts or the Alan Dean Foster novelisation.
