More Than One Starfleet Academy

Whenever Star Trek characters refer to Starfleet Academy it is connected with the one situated in San Francisco. In the TNG episode “Eye of the Beholder” several personal files show that the officers attended Starfleet Academy on other planets than even Earth.

From the information given in the files it can be seen that there are at least 5 different places that host academies.

• Starfleet Academy Psi Upsilon III (attended by Daniel L. Kwan)
• Starfleet Technical Services Academy Mars (attended by Alfonse D. Pacelli)
• Beta Ursae Minor II Starfleet Academy (attended by Darien Wallace)
• Beta Aquilae II Starfleet Academy (attended by Lois A. Eckridge)
• Starfleet Academy San Francisco, Earth (multiple)

Additional information about training facilities of Starfleet Academy are given in TNG: “The First Duty” and VOY: “Future’s End”: From the first episode we know that the “Academy Flight Range” is located near Saturn with its evacuation centre being located on Mimas. The Voyager episode gives the part of dialogue posted below. From that we learn what a pilot’s education looks like and also that there are further training ranges on Venus and within the asteroid belt.
